5 Months In: Building Wireless Networks, One Site at a Time

I’m five months into my role as a Wireless Install Technician at Pinnacle Communications, and the learning has been fast-paced and hands-on every step of the way.

Real-World Networking, Real Results

This position has taken me across the country, installing and configuring HSIA (High-Speed Internet Access) systems in hotels and commercial environments. It’s one thing to study networking—and another to climb ladders, terminate Cat6, and bring full networks online under pressure.

Hardware I’ve Worked With

📶 Access Points:

  • Cisco MR36H – Over 200 units installed (hospitality prepaid)
  • Cisco MR36 – High-powered, indoor
  • Cisco MR44, MR46 – Indoor public Wi-Fi
  • Cisco MR76 – Outdoor public Wi-Fi
  • Ruckus H550 Series – Over 70 units
  • Ruckus R650 Series – Over 50 units
  • Ruckus T350 – Outdoor mesh

🔌 Switching & Routing:

  • Cisco MS425-16 Core Switch, MS350-48FP
  • Cisco MX250, MX68 for Routing/SD-WAN
  • Cisco MG41e – Cellular backup connectivity

Culture Matters

Beyond the gear and installs, what’s really stood out is the incredible team at Pinnacle. The leadership here leads with clarity, consistency, and support, making it easy to grow, ask questions, and take pride in the work.

What’s Coming

This blog remains the place where I’ll document my real-world experiences, lessons learned, and tech insights.
Stay tuned for more stories from the field.
